Sweetness journey
When I was in the 5th grade my grandmother bought me a fully loaded kitchen Aid Mixer. Like any ordinary 5th grader, I questioned this gift that my grandmother purchased for me. Why out of all things would I need? Every day when school was over, I would make peanut butter cookies for my sisters, friends and myself. A Little of Sweetness started as a hobby at first for me. Back in 2015, when I was working as a cashier and this guy came to my line and said “God said that he loves you and that he will guide you “; and he said remember to do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life . That simple line truly did something to me. I knew that I enjoyed baking, I would find myself in the kitchen for hours experimenting and asking some of my close friends to come and sample my baked goods. At that time, I was going to school full time while working two jobs. The guy from the store was right. I had to do something I loved, which was baking. I decided to quit one of my jobs and work part time and sell baked goods and treats, before I knew it my calendar was booked with orders each week! My Grandma Dot, who happens to be a baker herself and Author of “Cooking with Miss Dorothy”, would call me up randomly and give me all her recipes but not at once. My grandma dot wanted me to learn each recipe until I perfected my craft. She would give me another one as I began to get better with time. Fast forward to 2019, My Grandmother gifted me with another mixer but this time it was a commercial mixer. My grandmother saw something in me when I was in the 5th grade that I did not see in myself. I thank God that my Grandma Dot saw it not robbery to sow a seed in me at a young age, I am forever grateful for her believing in me.
